However, his family — comprising an old mother and brother — cannot afford the travel expenses and cost of engaging services of a nurse.
Mohammed Saleem Mohammed Idris currently admitted to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman slipped into coma after he was severely beaten and sought to be strangled with a rope by Mohammed Nazrul Al Islam, and two other Bangladeshi men who snatched Dh20,000 from him.
Two of the assailants were arrested by Ajman Police while Nazur Al Islam is still on the run.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Mohammed Suliman Mohammed Idris said his brother had saved the money to buy a small workshop to start his own business. But he didn't understand how the thieves knew that his brother had the money in the pocket.
"My mother is crying and her health condition is worsening. She needs her son to be transported back to Bangladesh and admitted to a hospital there. But I can't afford to pay all the expenses of his travel and hiring of a nurse to accompany him to our homeland,” he said.
Mohammed Suliman said he approached the Bangladeshi Consulate in Dubai but they refused to provide any help and support. "None of them even came to the hospital to give us at least moral support," he lamented.
Hamad Al Shamsi, Director-General of Khalifa Hospital, said doctors conducted an emergency operation to save the victim's life.
The hospital has waived all expenses of treatment and requested the Bangladeshi embassy to transport him back home as nothing more can be done for him.
Dr Abdul Mautti Younis, senior physician at Khalifa Hospital, said that Mohammed Saleem was brought to the hospital by police in comatose condition due to lack of oxygen which caused complete brain failure.
"The patient can't live without the tubes so his transportation requires a nurse who can maintain the connection of the tubes till he is admitted in another hospital," he explained.
Ajman Police officials told Khaleej Times that two of the assailants are in the prison and the police are in contacts with other emirates and Oman police department to arrest the absconding Nazur Al Islam.
