Colonel Khalil Al Mansouri, Director of Criminal Investigations Department at Dubai Police said the suspect impersonated as a policeman to lure his victims, before taking them to abandoned places.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the charges, and his three victims recognised him in an identification parade.

He has been referred to the public prosecution, the officer said.

“Wearing a yellow shirt similar to the uniform of Civil Defence personnel, the alleged serial rapist used to stand in lonely open spaces near SafaPark, and picked his victims,” he said.

“He stopped them saying he was a policeman after showing some kind of an ID,” Al Mansouri said.

He, then took them to deserted areas, where he raped them inside a small van or in lonely nearby buildings, he said.

The suspect raped the first victim, a Sri Lankan woman, about forty days ago, after he saw her walking alone.

In the following days, he also raped another woman, an African, and tried to rape a Filipina but did not succeed inhis attempt. The victims reported the matter to the police who kept an eye on the places the suspect waited for his victims and arrested him.
