SHARJAH — A 48-year-old Indian national was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a flat in an apartment in Al Wahda Street in Sharjah on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, Mohammed Rafi, hailed from the Indian state of Kerala. One of his relatives told Khaleej Times that Rafi had been taking anti-depression pills for over a year. He said Rafi was well placed as the chief administrative officer with a pharmacy.
“He had lived in Dubai for several years with his family. However, his family had returned to their home in Kerala some two years back. I think he was upset about being away from the family,” the relative said.
Rafi had moved into the present flat just a fortnight ago after vacating his Dubai flat. According to his neighbours in the Sharjah apartment, Rafi had returned home from work in the afternoon. He did not answer his phone when his colleagues and the police tried to reach him since he had parked his car in a no-parking area.
“As he didn’t open the door, the watchman entered his room from the balcony of the next flat. It was then he was found hanging,” said a neighbour.
