The storm had already claimed the lives of at least two people in China's Hainan and 16 people in the Philippines
Available case details reveal that in November last year, a British expatriate residing in Arabian Ranches was shocked to see water, apparently mixed with blood, seeping through from under the door of his housemaid (G.L.’s) room.
He at once tried to open the door but found it was locked from inside. However, he managed to enter G.L.’s room through an open window at the back of his house.
He found his Philippino housemaid’s corpse lying on the bathroom floor and immediately informed the police. The maid had apparently been strangled and her head smashed, according to police sources.
Subsequent police investigations brought M.K., the 44-year husband of G.L. employed locally as an electrician, under suspicion of having committed the heinous crime that eventually led to his arrest.
The court was also informed that M.K. had broken down while being questioned by the police and confessed to his crime.
