Man faces trial on forgery charges

DUBAI — The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a 31-year-old Moroccan national to the Dubai court on forgery charges.

The police was informed about the suspect giving three forged labour contracts. The suspect allegedly took Dh1,000 from the victim after he told him that he had some friends working for the Dubai Police who could appoint him as a policeman.

He handed over the work contract allegedly issued by Dubai Police. Also the defendant had taken Dh3,300 from another victim after he told him that he knew an officer at the Abu Dhabi Officer’s Club who would able to give him a job. The police set a trap and arrested the suspect in Satwa, Dubai. The police raided the suspect’s flat and found a number of forged labour contracts.

Car insurance

A Lebanese national appeared at the Dubai misdemeanor court on charges of forgery.

The suspect who worked as an insurance broker forged a car insurance certificate for a car belonging to an Emirati bank manager. The 34-year-old bank manager told the prosecutor that on December 14 he went to buy a car where he met the suspect. He asked him to prepare the insurance for his car less than the insurance fees offered to him officially. Later, the bank manager went to the insurance company for a claim after his car was damaged in an accident.

He was told that the insurance papers were forged.

Swearing

A British woman testified before the Dubai court that she did not hear a Georgian woman swearing at a policewoman for not arranging a locker for her bag during a visit to Dubai Central Jail. The witness also testified that the accused was asked to leave and to come again to visit her son. She said that the police woman who was angry and rough, told the woman to come again to see her son. The court adjourned the case until the end of next month.

Fine

The Dubai misdemeanor court fined a 29-year-old Emirati engineer, his 27-year-old compatriot and a 25-year-old Egyptian broker Dh2,000 each for falsely reporting that their colleague, 33-year-old Sudanese, had embezzled Dh12,000 from work.

The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the engineer who told the Dubai Police and the Public Prosecution that the Sudanese national M,M had embezzled money. The Sudanese was acquitted by the court.

Assault

The Dubai misdemeanor court fined a Briton Dh5,000 for assaulting and abusing a 30-year-old Indian woman sales manager, a 27-year-old Filipina sales staff, and a 39-year-old Sri Lankan driver of an IT company.

They met the accused for a Dh10,000 payment that was overdue by him by two months.

She told the police that she waited for the British outside his office for two hours. The court had on June 10 awarded in absentia a month’s jail term and Dh3,000 fine on the 54-year-old British national, who owns a firm.

After removing the jail term during a re-hearing, the court fined the man Dh4,000for physical assault and Dh1,000 for abusing the three victims.
