Man drowns in RAK

RAS AL KHAIMAH — A 25-year-old Pakistani national drowned while swimming in a water-filled ditch in the southern area of Al Shooka in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday evening.

A senior officer from the RAK Police said the deceased, whose name was not disclosed, was on a trip to the place, where there is a ditch constructed to store water for the far-flung areas of the southern emirate, with two compatriots.

The three were swimming in the water and the victim swam to the extreme end of the ditch. He began drowning but the other two friends could not rescue him, the police said.
