Man arrested for credit card forgery

DUBAI — A man from an African country has been held for forging credit cards, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Dubai Police has said.

Last month, a national bank had informed the police that an individual had illegally withdrawn Dh20,000 from a customer’s account.

The police set up a team to investigate the matter. Acting on a tip-off, the the police held the suspect in Port Saeed area and recovered three credit cards from his possession.

The team also searched the suspect’s room in a hotel in Naif area where they recovered 21 forged credit cards.

During his questioning, the man said he had entered the UAE three times on visit visas and admitted to using the forged credit cards to withdraw cash.
