“Shopping malls are among the key destinations that draw in large numbers of visitors into Dubai.

“With festive embellishments and decorations on store and mall facades during ‘Eid in Dubai’, Dubai’s visitors will enjoy the true spirit of Eid Al Fitr,” said Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) Office.

Fouad Sharaf, Vice-President of Mall of the Emirates, said, “Visitors will be offered Eid sweets all across the mall while Eid festivities will be held on the mall’s main stage.”

Mall of the Emirates is expecting 120,000 people during the Eid Al Fitr festival.

As a key sponsor of ‘Eid in Dubai’, Dubai Festival City will host the Eid District that will feature various Eid festivities and programmes designed to cater to all tastes during the Eid period.

The Fuwallat Al Eid will be a prominent activity at Dubai Festival City with volunteers distributing sweets and Eid goodies to visitors at a special Eid tent at the mall.

Sahara Center in Sharjah has registered 35 per cent increase in sales with the commencement of the Ramadan promotions that began in the first week of September.

“This year, we have re-introduced the Ramadan Charity Auction, the proceeds of which will go to the Sharjah Charity International, a local organisation that assists needy people,” said J.P. Nammour, Managing Director of Sahara Center.

A Hummer H2 SUT is up for grabs in a raffle draw, which will be held at the mall on October 10 at 8pm.

To mark the occasion, Dubai Outlet Mall is hosting spectacular lighting and decorations around the mall along with festive entertainment.

Families can enjoy the first Chuck E Cheese’s leisure and entertainment outlet in the UAE as well as the fun and colourful young kids’ area in the Dome.

An added bonus is that customers spending Dh350 or more will receive a box of chocolates.

Vishal Mahajan, Director of Dubai Outlet Mall, said, “Visitors will surely have a great time at Dubai Outlet Mall and we look forward to welcoming a high number of tourists from the region as well as UAE residents this Eid.”

Al Manal Centre is giving its shoppers the chance to win a brand new Nissan Armada.

Customers can enter the draw by making a purchase of Dh100. The raffle draw will be held on October 5.

Retail outlets, such as Splash, have introduced a new range of clothing for the season. The Autumn/Winter collection ‘Eye On Design’ showcases a collection that offers ‘couture-looking’ pieces.

“The collection is youthful and portrays some of the season’s key trends and is in line with Splash’s value proposition which reflects in the price points that range from as low as Dh50 to Dh400,” said Anuradha Farrell, Marketing Manager, Splash.

Eid is also a time when gold sales go up. In support of the ‘Eid in Dubai’ initiative, Damas has launched a limited edition Eid pendant from the Crystal Aya Collection, a special raffle draw and a charity project that would benefit the UAE Red Crescent.

Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas, said,”Our sales have increased 37 per cent as compared to last year’s Ramadan and we are expecting a lot more with the end of Eid.”

“This is for the first time that oud wood is being used in jewellery. The wood is being used in the Eid crystal pendant Crystal Aya collection, a creation that bears the world’s smallest complete rendition of the Holy Quran. Diamonds are proving to be an attractive medium to convey greetings in the run-up to Eid. Using the laser inscription service from International Diamond Laboratories (IDL), Eid greetings can be inscribed on diamonds,” said Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL.
