Malls Decked up for Christmas

DUBAI — And now, it is time for Christmas and the spirit of the Yuletide is evident in most of the malls with characteristic red, green and snow dominating the creative decorations.

Mercato

The festive season continues in Mercato. Every nook and corner in the mall has been decorated in the traditional warm festive colours. The atrium arches and balconies are adorned with rich-hued decorations that create a beautiful ambience with a traditional Victorian holiday feel. Mercato is open from 10am to 12 midnight.

A life-size Gingerbread House, sponsored by Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah, is the main attraction. It is be supported with a competition and prize. For a Dh10 donation, visitors can guess the quantity of sweets used to decorate the two-metre Gingerbread House.

Those who enter stand the chance of winning a family weekend stay at the 5-star Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah. All proceeds raised will be donated to charity.

The Toy Factory – a fun filled children’s workshop area – on the first floor has been created to keep the little ones entertained while parents enjoy shopping at leisure in the mall. The Toy Factory workshop area offers the chance for children to get creative and build their own toy.

Another enthralling activity is Letters to the Lapland – a wonderful opportunity for children to write about the kindest thing they did for someone this year.

The most touching story entered by children between the ages of one and five and in the 6-10 age group will win exciting prizes.

At the Customer Service Desk on the ground floor, shoppers can claim their Holiday Shopping Catalogue, and choose from a wide variety of season’s gifts for their loved ones.

The catalogue features brilliant ideas for festive gifts, home decorations, and other items specifically for this time of the year.

Entertainment activities include roaming performers, and singers in old fashioned costumes, accompanied by a pianist.

Burjuman Center

Visitors to BurJuman can look forward to a festive season shopping experience like no other, courtesy the mall’s Winter Carnival, promising fantastic shopping, great entertainment and fabulous winning until January 23, 2010.

Sabina Khandwani, head of PR and marketing, BurJuman, said in addition to hosting a wide array of international entertainment acts and winter-themed in-mall events and activities for young and old, the mall is also giving shoppers the chance to win seven luxurious BMW cars on spend of just Dh200. One BMW 5 series is being given away every 10 days.

The grand raffle draw where a BMW X5 is up for grabs, will be taking place on January 24, 2010.

Humongousaur, one of the 10 new alien forms that is part of Ben 10 Alien Force, the cartoon series that has captivated the imagination of thousands of children around the world, will entertain children visiting Hamleys at The Dubai Mall on two consecutive weekends starting December 10 (Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm and Fridays from 4pm to 8pm).

Hamleys at The Dubai Mall, the Middle East flagship store of Hamleys, one of the world’s largest toy shops, recently announced the exclusive availability of Ben 10 Alien Force merchandise.

Among the most popular of the Ben 10 Alien Force characters, Humongousaur is a 12-foot-tall humanoid dinosaur alien that has great strength and a thick layer of skin which provides vast resistance to injury. He also has the power to increase his own body size and mass, growing up to 60 feet in height.

His strength increases as he grows, and his dinosaur features become more pronounced, growing Stegosaur-like plates on his back and spikes on his tail.
