Though the leakage was fixed on the same day, people were allowed to approach the aquarium and its surrounding area only on Friday.

However, the glass tunnel that goes through the gigantic aquarium is still closed for the public as a precautionary measure. People can view the fish and other animals from a distance and enjoy the view of underwater zoo.

According to an official of the Dubai Mall, the tunnel is likely to open after the weekend, once the technical team runs a thorough check. “It’s absolutely safe now, as it was before. But we didn’t want to take any risk. We will open it once we are thoroughly satisfied. It wasn’t a big breach, just a minor crack and it was fixed within an hour,” said the official on conditions of anonymity.
