Malayalee institutions, expats to be honoured

DUBAI - Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Hamed, Chairman of Press Centre and Art Production L.L.C and printer and publisher of Arabia Friday international Malayalam weekly newspaper and magazine and Urdu Express international, Urdu weekly newspaper and magazine, has instituted 15 awards for excellence to be given away to those institutions and individuals in the UAE who have rendered meritorious service in various fields to expatriate Keralites living in the UAE.

The name of the award is "Arabia Vishista UAE Malayalee Puraskaram - 2002." The award carries RS10,001 and a memento which shall be given to the winners by Padmabhushan Dr K.J. Yesudas at a ceremony on February 14 at 7.30pm on Hyatt Regency grounds, Dubai.
The winners for the award have been selected by expatriate Keralites living in the UAE as per their choice expressed in a prescribed form that appeared in Gulf Madhyamam Malayalam daily and Arabia Friday on January 31.

The institutions/individuals selected by the Keralite expatriates under each category are: Sharjah Indian Association (social-cultural organisation); Y.A. Rahim, Chairman, Centre for Resident Indians and Returnees - UAE (meritorious service); Our Own English High School (educational establishment); Dr Jyothish Kumar, Managing Director, Our International Study Centre (service in the educational field); Moopens Healthcare Management Services L.L.C (medical establishment); Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman, Moopens Healthcare Management Services (Individual for health service); Atlas Jewellery Group (business establishment); Abdul Vahab, Chairman, Bridgeway Group of Companies (individual in business field). In the media field, Asianet Radio 657 AM (radio broadcasting); Nissar Syed, News Editor, Radio Asia (individual in radio broadcasting); Kairali TV (TV channel); T.N. Gopakumar, chief of programmes (news section), Asianet TV (individual in TV broadcasting; (daily newspaper); V.K. Hamza Abbas, Chief Editor, Gulf Madhyamam (journalism).
