Malayalam film stars in Dubai for Akcaf Onam
DUBAI - A line-up of popular Malayalam film actors, including ace comedian Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadish and Maniyanpillai Raju has arrived for today's star-studded Onam celebrations being organised at Al Nasr Leisureland on behalf of All Kerala Colleges Alumni Forum (Akcaf) by Amicos, the alumni of Mar Ivanios College.
According to Peter Prakash, president of Amicos Dubai Chapter, the day-long event will kick off at 8.30am with a grand procession to greet King Mahabali, the legend behind Onam. The colourful procession, featuring a display folk dance in the accompaniment of Chenda Melam (drum beating), will be followed by a riveting show of variety entertainments and traditional art forms presented by various member colleges.
A public meeting, in which film stars, all former students of Mar Ivanios College, will take part along with the principal of the college Fr. Daniel Kuzhithadathil, will be followed by the Onam Sadya served on banana leaves for some 3,000 people. Also attending the meeting will be Palod Ravi MLA, Amicos president, and Abey George, a former student leader of the college. The afternoon session will feature a comedy show by veteran stars, followed by an enthralling music concert.
