Dubai - The holy month of Ramadan is a month in which Muslims look to elevate their spirituality and strive for greater closeness with Allah. Many regard it as a golden opportunity to earn blessings and rewards.

It is the month in which Muslims perform regular and more prayers and good deeds with greater intensity and frequency. Every Muslim wishes to make the most out of each and every moment of Ramadan.

In order to educate the masses about the deeds practiced by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions during their lifetime, Al Manar Centre hosted a lecture for the Urdu speaking community.

Titled, ‘Good practices of Ramadan’, the lecture saw Advocate Faiz Syed address issues related to Islam.

He spoke on various good deeds that a Muslim can perform in order to earn rewards during this holy month. These included providing Iftar, exhibiting good manners, being charitable and helping the needy, greeting others with a smile, abstaining from getting in to arguments, offering voluntary prayers apart from the obligatory prayers, introspection of ones actions and other deeds.

Al Manar Centre is run under the patronage of Shaikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The centre has been active in promoting a positive understanding among followers of different faiths by conducting conferences, seminars and interfaith discussion forums.  -reporters@khaleejtimes.com
