The dead boy, whose neck and hands were tied by the umbilical cord according to autopsy reports, was later discovered by cleaners.
The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution Office said the woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has also been charged with adultery.
The case dates back to February last year, when the woman was rushed to the hospital by her employers, with abdominal pain. She was given medication for the pain. The next day, she began bleeding and was again taken to the hospital. According to the prosecution, once she was at the hospital, she rushed to the toilet even before a medical examination had been conducted, where she delivered the baby and strangled him to death.
The woman was bleeding when she came out of the toilet and the hospital management later discovered the delivery and the baby’s death.
“Autopsy reports suggest that the newborn was strangled with the umbilical cord around his neck and both hands tied with it. After killing the baby, she dumped him in the dustbin and walked out of the toilet,” the statement said.
“There was a blood clot on the neck and marks on the chest of the baby,” says the examination report. The report also suggests that the baby was alive and healthy at birth. The woman’s employers said they were suspicious that the woman was pregnant, but did not pay much attention until she complained of abdominal pain.
The prosecutor’s office referred the case to the Criminal Court on October 23.
