This was done in order to summon the defendants to appear in front of the Dubai Court of Appeal. The first hearing, which was scheduled for February 1, had also been postponed pending the completion of administrative procedures.

The case against Maria is that her recently released music video contains scenes, which were deemed inappropriate for the Arab viewers.

UAE lawyer, Issa bin Hayder, told Khaleej Times that he had filed the case against Melody TV for airing the indecent clip 'Tikdib Alia' (You are lying to me) stressing that it contains provocative scenes that is against the ethical values and traditions of the Arabs. The video shows the singer kissing her teacher and smoking in front of him. This behaviour can send wrong messages to girl students who should respect their teachers, he said.
