Leaders greet new Iraqi president

Shaikh Zayed wished him success in achieving his people's aspirations in security and progress. Shaikh Zayed also affirmed the UAE's keen desire to strengthen fraternal ties and cooperation with Iraq, expressing the hope that Iraq would resume its role alongside its Arab brothers to serve the causes of Islamic countries and to enhance ties with friendly countries.

His Highness Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar cables to the Iraqi president.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Zayed, Shaikh Maktoum and Shaikh Khalifa sent cable of thanks to Lakhdar Brahimi, UN Representative to Iraq, for his efforts in helping Iraq restore its sovereignty.
