Late for quality awards!

DUBAI — It was a day to honour the winners of the Total Quality Award (TQA) from all schools in the UAE and the guest of honour was the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Extracurricular Activities and Students’ Affairs, Ahmed Saad Al Sharif.

The time given was 11am but an hour later, the winners and the hosts were still waiting for the chief guest to arrive.

He finally arrived, but the delay had hurt the organisers of the event and when the school’s principal took the podium to welcome the guest, she did not mince words. “The award was designated and devoted to quality, and one of the features of quality is punctuality and order. What happened today lacked both punctuality and discipline,” she said.

But Ahmed Saad Al Sharif, ignoring the innuendo, justified his being late by saying that he had been busy signing the certificates of appreciation of the winners of the Total Quality Award!
