Shops in Bur Dubai and Gold Souq reported brisk business of 'Rakhi', a thread that sisters tie around their brother's wrists on this day.

"We have different types of Rakhis this year and all of them are imported from India. The demand was high this year as compared to previous years. We had a separate section for Rakhis and the reaction from the customers has been overwhelming," said a shop keeper in Meena Bazaar, Bur Dubai.

Another shop keeper in Gold Souq said "We have stored an exquisite collections of Rakhi's this year."

"We were a bit vary in the beginning whether the people would be interested in the Rakhis made out of gold."

"Last year, the business was not that appealing. But this year people are buying more and we had to re-order the new collections."
