Large crowd at camel race festival
AL WATHBA - The concluding festival of the annual camel racing season continued here yesterday for the third consecutive day at the eastern racetrack.
Among those who attended yesterday's race were Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of Guest House and Protocol Department, Shaikh Al Mur bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, a large number of the sport's fans and foreign dignitaries.
At the end of the race, Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan and Obeid bin Eid Al Mansouri, Director of the the Race Organising Committee in Al Wathba, distributed prizes to the winners of the race.
Camel race is part of a programme designed by the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to revive sports associated with the country's heritage.
