Speaking to Khaleej Times, Dr Khalid Mohammed Al Khazraji, Under-Secretary of the ministry, said the move came in the context of the ministry's directives to allow people, especially those residing in remote areas to avail themselves of the services provided by the ministry and facilitate labour processing for them.

He said that the new office also includes a department tasked with providing different social services to the residents of the island.

He said the office will be equipped with the latest technologies adopted by the ministry to develop its services and electronically process the labour transactions.

Al Khazraji said procedures required for issuance of new work permits, visa transfer, issuance and renewal of labour cards and licensing facilities will be processed at the new labour office. He said the office would help facilitate procedures required for commercial and social services at Delma island.
