Lab well-equipped to meet varsity needs

SHARJAH — The Central Laboratories at the University of Sharjah have 3,354 equipment and machines at present along with other small devices that have gone up to 30,000, according to Dr Mufeed Al Samaraie, Director of the Central Laboratories.

Commenting on the increase in the number of equipment and lab instruments, Al Samaraie said there is a need for constant upgrading of technology to keep pace with the advancements and developments in the scientific fields. The laboratories, especially those at the universities, create a suitable and secure atmosphere for practical training and practice.

Al Samaraie stressed that the central laboratories at the University of Sharjah have expanded to cope with the latest developments and to keep up with the requirements of teaching departments.

These laboratories, he said, are working to log on the recent and latest devices and equipment in a bid to serve the development of the teaching process and the whole community.

He said that the laboratory of the department of civil engineering is among the many which had been upgraded by procuring several new devices and equipment.

Some modern devices provided to the laboratory in the interest of the students and the community at large include the Walking Type Humidity Chamber, a device to measure the humidity level and an Automatic Weather Station.

A new radiology lab is equipped with the latest devices used nowadays, added Al Samaraie.
