The Department of Public Works at Sharjah announced that the road between Industrial Area 4 and Abu Shagara would be closed. A senior official, however, declined to comment on how long the road would remain closed.

The exit that leads to Al Wahda Road while coming from Al Estiqlal Road (also known as Immigration Road), will be closed in addition to Industrial Road 1 that leads towards Al Wahda Road, Shaikh Khalid said.

Shaikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director General of the Directorate of Public Works, said the landlords of the buildings that would be demolished in the process of carrying out the Al Wahda Road improvement works, had all been compensated.

Digging works have already started in Industrial Area 4, parallel to the King Abdul Aziz Road, for the removal and shifting of the utility service network.

While detours and alternative routes will serve to ease the traffic flow, motorists will have to use the alternative routes in order to reach Al Wahda Road.
