The participating children were introduced to various kinds of Press activities including news writing style, basics of web site designing and photography, besides discussions on the role of media in society.

The club chalked out a fun-filled schedule for the children, which helped them display their talent in an amiable atmosphere, Shahla Kashif, Coordinator of the club, said.

During the second week, the children were exposed to the public relations systems and production of TV programmes through visits to MBC3 and Space Toon studios in Dubai Media City, she said.

Hind Mustafa, a participant, said: "It was an amazing experience for me and my friends and we learnt about news reporting and photography. It was a nice way to spend the summer vacation."

Alya Ibrahim, another participant, said: "The concept of news reporting was vague for me before I joined the club. But, three weeks are not enough to learn about the functioning of the media."

"We are trying to extend the exposure to media by including more activities like news story writing and professional photography," said Abdul Naser Ahli, Electronic Services Supplying Official in Dubai eGovernment.

Kids' Press Club gives children across the UAE the opportunity to learn a few things about the media, which helps them prepare for work in the field in future.
