Khalifa visit to boost UAE-Syria relations

ABU DHABI — The UAE- Syria relations have witnessed notable progress during the past few years as a number of agreements have been signed in different fields.

The official visit of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Syria comes as response to the invitation by Syrian President Bashar Al Assad to discuss the bilateral relations and look for the best ways to enhance these fraternal ties.

The year 2006 witnessed intensive visit exchange between the two sides culminated in signing a number of agreements in the fields of communications, trade and investment. On December 17, 2006, Shaikh Khalifa met President Bashar in Abu Dhabi and discussed with him different issues of mutual concern.

A number of ministers and high-ranking officials from the both sides also exchanged visits leading to signing of many agreements.
