Khalifa orders release of 263 inmates

ABU DHABI - The President , His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 263 inmates,

Both UAE nationals and expatriates, and the paying who have served various parts of their terms at the correctional and punitive establishments.

Shaikh Khalifa has also ordered the paying off of the debts of all the 263 inmates.

The Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council is to find proper jobs for the released nationals while expatriates are to be deported from the UAE.

The gesture of benevolence is part of Shaikh Khalifa’s interest in granting the inmates the opportunity to have a new start and mitigate the suffering of their families.

The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution, has received orders from Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, or ADJD, to immediately start procedures to release the inmates in execution of the Shaikh Khalifa’s orders.

Advisor Yousuf Saeed Al-Abri, Abu Dhabi’s Acting Public Prosecutor, said coordination is already underway with Abu Dhabi Police’s Directorate of Correctional and Punitive Establishments to reunite the inmates with their families upon their release.

Al-Abri expressed gratitude to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the benevolent move which is being received very happily by the families of the released individuals.

“In the UAE, the rule of law prevails on all those who live in it. The Judicial system never hesitates to punish whoever is tempted to endanger the security of the country and citizens,” stated Al-Abri.

He also thanked General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Mansour for the support they extend to the judicial system.
