Khalifa Charity Foundation starts relief flights to Haiti

The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation sent its first relief flight to Haiti under the instructions of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The relief flight, heading to the Dominican Republic, carries 77 tons of food aid and medical supplies to rescue victims of the earthquake that struck Haiti and killed tens of thousands of people displaced hundreds of thousands and caused severe damage to infrastructure. The aid will go by land to the Republic of Haiti to strengthen the international relief efforts for the affected.

A delegation from the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation departed earlier to the Dominican Republic to receive the aircraft and coordinate with the Dominican government to deliver aid to Haiti.

Carlos Morales Troncoso, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic has discussed ways to deliver aid and supplies to Haiti with UAE officials. He also said that his country is ready to receive all kinds of aid and relief from countries all over the world and deliver them to victims of earthquake in Haiti.
