Khalifa and King Mohammed hold talks

CASABLANCA — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Mohammed of Morocco held talks here yesterday.

King Mohammed welcomed Shaikh Khalifa’s visit to Morocco, stemming from the two countries’ keenness to further bolster strong relations, the foundation of which was laid by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late King Hassan.

Shaikh Khalifa affirmed UAE’s keenness to develop ties with Morocco, based on mutual respect, amity and understanding.

He said the two countries are determined to foster the existing partnership in all fields and to support the join committee for the benefit of the two peoples.

The two leaders discussed the current developments in the Middle East and the situation in Lebanon, in the light of the Israeli aggression on its territories. They also reviewed the regional and international efforts to broker a ceasefire and to move swiftly to assist the Lebanese government to maintain its sovereignty over all Lebanese territories.

They also discussed the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, as well as a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Shaikh Khalifa and King Mohammed called for intensifying efforts to revive the peace process in accordance with the international legitimacy resolutions for just and comprehensive peace in the region.

They also reviewed bilateral relations and ways to boost them.

The meeting was attended by the member of delegation accompanying Shaikh Khalifa, Moroccan Prime Minister Idris Jettou, Mohammed bin Isa, Moroccan Foreign Minister, Abbas Al Fasi, State Minister and head of the accompanying honorary mission and a number of Moroccan officials.

Shaikh Khalifa attended a luncheon hosted by King Mohammed in his honour. It was attended by Mulay Rasheed, Moroccan officials and heads of the Arab diplomatic missions in Morocco.

$100m for hospital

Shaikh Khalifa has donated $100 million for establishing a specialised hospital here as a gift to the Moroccan people and a token of appreciation of the unique ties linking the two countries.

Shaikh Khalifa announced the donation when he met King Mohammed at the royal palace here yesterday. The President has instructed the authorities concerned to take the necessary action for implementation of the project.
