DUBAI — Dubai Press Club will organise a seminar titled ‘The Political Rights of Kuwaiti Women’ tomorrow.
The seminar will be addressed by Abdul Wahab Haroun, Kuwaiti parliamentarian, and Dr Masouma Al Mubarak, Political Science Professor in Kuwait University and women rights’ advocate and Director of Media at the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Mona Al Ayyaf.
Mona Al Marri, Executive Manager of Dubai Press Club, said: “There is no doubt that giving Kuwaiti women their constitutional and political rights is a victory not only for Kuwaiti women, but also for women in the Gulf and the Arab world. This decision came as a reward for all the hard work and dedication by the Kuwaiti women and for all those who firmly believe in the importance of this issue.”
She added: “As this decision generated tremendous response and interest in the Gulf region and the world, the Dubai Press Club took the initiative to organise this seminar for which we have invited some of the top women rights’ advocates to shed light on the various aspects of this decision and the reasons that lead to its implementation.”
Abdul Wahab Haroun will talk about the legislations related to the decision. He will also shed light on the voting day and the role of the Government as well as the reaction of the liberal and Islamic parliamentarians of the Council.
