Jerusalem Islamic circles welcome Zayed's initiative
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM -- Official Islamic circles in this holy city and other Palestinian towns have welcomed the initiative of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to restore the Dome of the Rock Mosque at his own cost.
Shaikh Najeh Bekairat, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Friends Society here, said that soon after Shaikh Zayed's directives, a team of the society's members embarked on talks with officials at the Islamic Endowment Department to draw up a mechanism for repairing the mosque that had some cracks following the recent quake.
