JAMNA PYARI TURNED out to be the surprise hit of the Onam festival season. Starring Kunchacko Boban and directed by Thomas Sebastian, the film came with little hype and went on to rake in almost one-and-a-half times its production cost in a matter of weeks despite having to fight against biggies.
A comedy that also stars Aju Varghese, Joy Mathew, Neeraj Madhav and Suraj Venjaramoodu, the film has Kunchacko Boban speaking the Trichur dialect, and playing a do-gooder auto-driver.
A chance encounter with Parvathy (played by Gayathri Suresh) will lead him to a dramatic twist: He and his friends must now find 100 goats including the rare purebred Jamnapari, from which the film derives its name. The quest is to save her family, who has fallen in distress, as Parvathy's father struggles to fulfil an export order.
Billed as a feel-good entertainer, Jamna Pyari is a movie to be watched with no sky-high expectations.
Its supporting cast of talented comic actors assures some good laughs while the script itself does not challenge you with complicated twists or turns.
One for the family, the film is now playing at theatres in the UAE.
