"The work done has shown the great standards of UAE security agencies and levels of coordination and efficiency", said Major-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. "The performance can only be described as absolutely ideal in all respects", he said.

Speaking at a Press conference at the Dubai Police headquarters, Maj-Gen Dhahi congratulated the country's leaders on the huge success of the event. He said the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, had been behind the success of the Arab world's most important international event.

Maj-Gen Dhahi said Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, had given the supreme security committee of Dubai 2003 all support that enabled it to handle its duties efficiently.

He said General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence and Head of Dubai Police and Public Security, had put his trust in the security apparatus of the country and made it clear since the beginning of the preparations that all government agencies in the UAE should contribute to the event's success.

Maj-Gen Dhahi said Lieutenant-General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, had provided all assistance that enabled the internal security apparatus to handle its duties perfectly and achieve total control over the country's borders, territorial waters and airspace.

He said the massive resources of the UAE Armed Forces were put at the disposal of the Dubai Security Committee.

The Dubai Police chief also lauded the efforts of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under-Secretary of the Interior Ministry, who offered his full assistance since the committee started putting its security plans together.

"Without them, we could not have possibly discharged our duties to the satisfactory level", said Maj-Gen Dhahi.
