IranianHis brother, a resident of the UAE, according to the hospital and Iranian consulate sources, has turned his back on him. Even his son and wife, who live in Germany, have declined to accept him.

After his heart-rending story was published in an Arabic daily recently, the Iranian consulate in Dubai has offered to help him renew his passport in order to process his travel documents for him to go home.

Dr Ahmed Al Zarounie, director of Kuwaiti Hospital, said Fridoun has been receiving medical care, which is being done out of humanitarian reasons as he “is suffering from paraplegia, high blood pressure, memory loss and diabetes.”

“The 76-year-old Iranian patient has begun to commit acts that upset the hospital administration. He refuses to cooperate with the system, harasses and assaults other patients,” he added.
