The art curators will work with artists from the emerging art centres of the MENASA region (Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia).

Artists selected for the competition will have the opportunity to work alongside international art curators who will help them unveil their new work at 'Art Dubai 2009'.

The Abraaj Capital Art Prize is designed to create a viable platform for individual artists who are revered in their local communities but lack international and commercial exposure.

In the first year, three artists will be selected and will have their work displayed at the Middle East's largest modern and contemporary art fair, which will help these artists to gain recognition on a global platform, Savita Apte, Chair of the Abraaj Capital Art Prize Committee and Director of Art Dubai said.
