International Athens Award for Fatima

ABU DHABI - Her Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the President's Wife and Chairperson of UAE Women's Federation, has been accorded the international 'Athens Award' in appreciation of her role in supporting Zayed University, which enabled the institution to enhance women's education in the country.

This was announced yesterday by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, during a meeting here with founders of the award. The 'Athens Award' was founded in the US in 1982 and is given away annually to women who have contributed immensely to the development of women.

Shaikha Fatima is the 11th in the world and the first eminent personality from the Middle East to receive the award. Shaikh Nahyan said Shaikha Fatima will be presented the award during the first graduation ceremony of Zayed University tomorrow.
