Inside a grand old bazaar

Walking around Grand Souq in Deira — one of the oldest bazaars in Dubai — is like being in a labyrinth, despite housing only 30-odd shops. Along with the Spice Souq, which is adjacent, Grand Souq brings back the old-world charm.

Here, one encounters merchants selling cheap textiles, scarves, ladies’ accessories, toys, kitchenware, spices, henna, chocolates, perfumes and dried fruits. One can also find shisha pipes, white robes and even belly-dancing costumes. And the aroma of spices and perfumes follows you even when one gets out.
