In a gory act, a man killed his wife and walked into a police station in Karnataka, India, with her severed head.
Police arrested the man after he confessed to killing his wife because he suspected her of having an illicit affair with another man.
Officials told the BBC that the man identified as Satish SG arrived at the station in Chikmagalur district with his wife severed head in a bag.
The couple had been married for seven years and have two young children. Police have filed murder charges against the man and added he will appear in court on Tuesday, BBC reported.
Adding that the deceased woman had earlier approached police for help, a senior police official said, "We were aware that the couple were going through some family issues. We even counseled them a few times but we didn't know that he suspected her of having an extra-marital affair."
While, citing extra-marital affairs to be the main cause behind such acts, Rekha Sharma of the National Commission for Women said, "Instances where a husband kills his wife are rare but when they do happen, the reason often is doubt, property matters or an extra-marital relationship."
