Increase in government fees likely soon

ABU DHABI — Fees collected by different departments of the Interior Ministry, particularly Naturalisation and Residence, Traffic, Vehicle Licensing, and Civil Defence, will shortly be hiked. An official source at the Interior Ministry told your favourite No.1 newspaper, Khaleej Times, that a panel was recently formed to revise fees collected for various transactions by these departments.

In this connection, he disclosed, fees for issuance of visit and residence visas, driving licence, and all prepaid transactions will be increased. “The panel is working out a formula for the anticipated charges collected for public services in such a way that is compatible with the services rendered,” he said, adding that visas issued every year are on the rise due to the low fees payable by sponsors. He stressed that it was inevitable, hence, to raise these fees in the near future.
