Imams to go with Haj groups

ABU DHABI — For the first time the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Auqaf (GAIAA) will allow imams to accompany pilgrims on Haj tours without deducting their annual leave, GAIAA Director Dr. Mohammad Mattar Al Ka’abi announced yesterday. The move will allow imams to offer advisories and preachings to pilgrims in the holy land.

The authority has asked imams to obtain official approval and provide a suitable substitute before going on Haj tours.
