Imams Call for Tolerance

ABU DHABI -The nation’s imams called for tolerance as the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses Rulers of other emirates, Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers offered Eid Al Adha prayers at mosques and musallas in their respective emirates on Monday.

Delivering the Eid sermon, Shaikh Ali Al Hashimi, religious adviser at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, spoke highly of the vital importance of solidarity among the Muslims for the sake of raising Islam’s banner aloft and promoting the values of tolerance, goodwill, intimacy and charity.

He touched on the significance and rewards of the festival of sacrifice and urged faithfuls to communicate with, and visit each other.

He prayed the Almighty to grant the soul of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan peace and mercy, safeguard Shaikh Khalifa and other UAE leaders and bestow good health upon them and keep the UAE and other Muslim countries at peace and calm.

Later, Shaikh Khalifa and the rest of the congregation visited the tomb of the late Shaikh Zayed where they prayed for his soul and prayed the Almighty to rest his soul in perfect peace in paradise.

Shaikh Khalifa offered the prayers at Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi along with General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.

The prayer was also attended by Shaikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Shaikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Lt-Gen Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight, Shaikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the board of trustees of Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and Chairman of Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (Zonescorp), Shaikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President’s aide-de-camp, Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Finance, Brigadier Dr Shaikh Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Inspector-General at the Ministry of Interior, Shaikh Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, and Dr Shaikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Airways.

A number of shaikhs, ministers and top civilian and military officials, members of the diplomatic corps and a crowd of UAE nationals and resident expatriates were also present.

In Dubai, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum offered Eid prayers at the Grand Eid Mussalla in Bur Dubai.

Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Event Management Corporation, Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Shaikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Saeed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Land Department and a number of shaikhs and a large group of worshippers were present.

Shaikh Mohammed and the congregation listened to the Eid sermon delivered by Shaikh Omar Al Khateeb, and accepted Eid greetings from well-wishers who offered best wishes for him and the nation.

In Sharjah, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, offered the Eid prayers at Bedae Mussalla.

Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, along with other shaikhs, senior officials, dignitaries, UAE nationals and a crowd of members of Arab and Muslim communities attended the prayer.

In neighbouring Ajman, His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, offered the Eid prayers at Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Mosque. He was joined by Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, and a group of top local officials and crowd of worshippers.

In Fujairah, the prayers were led by His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah. The service was attended by Shaikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, along with other shaikhs and top local officials.

In Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain, Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and Shaikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, performed the prayers at the grand Eid musallas at Khuzam and Umm Al Quwain, respectively. -
