Housewife accused of using narcotics

DUBAI — A housewife stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Wednesday on the charge of using narcotics.

The 36-year-old Emirati woman was arrested at Rashid Hospital where she was taken for being in an abnormal condition on July 4.

“I came to know from the Operations Room of the Dubai Police that a woman was taken by her mother to the Emergency Section of the hospital,” an Emirati lieutenant said during the Public Prosecution investigation.

The lieutenant went to the hospital and found out that the defendant was not in her normal mental state. “She was hallucinating things and not speaking clearly. She was even unable to stand straight,” the officer added.

The police officer then got a warrant issued from the Public Prosecution to arrest the woman.

According to the criminal lab report, the woman’s urine sample had traces of morphine and other narcotics which could be the result ofusing heroine. The report also said that the traces found could not be the result of any medicine.
