Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 19)

The Ram is ruled by impulsive, impatient and warlike Mars and thus has to try harder than most to maintain self control. There’s always a danger you’ll go off half-cocked and shoot yourself in the foot. As the Sun enters Libra this week on Thursday stress will be on keeping balanced. This doesn’t promise to be easy, as your mood is likely to swing from one extreme to the other. No matter what the pressure or provocation, stay cool. Everything has to be in place when you spring into action. Timing is critical if you want your plan to work and create surprise.

Taurus (Apr 20- May 20)

Cosmic forces combine to make you far too outspoken this week. You could say something out of turn that causes unnecessary embarrassment. While you feel that upholding principles is very important, it’s also true that actions speak louder than words. You can’t expect everyone to believe that what you believe in is what’s right for them too. Perhaps you are allowing personal preferences and prejudices to colour your views in a situation that requires complete objectivity and detachment. You may be letting the thing get far too close and personal and the boundaries are becoming blurred.

Gemini (May 21 - Jun 20)

Before your ruler, the free spinning Mercury, confronts secretive and obsessive Pluto, it would be wise to unburden your soul. It’s never good to keep things buried in your conscience as they are likely to be uncovered when your emotional defences are down. Why carry a mental millstone around your neck? You only add to your feelings of low self-esteem by continually looking over your shoulder. If you come clean about it, you can forget the past and start looking forward. Although you might think that the truth will cast a long shadow, revealing your secret will not hurt anyone now.

Cancer (Jun 21 - Jul 22)

Despite the Moon’s preoccupation with the gloomy planets Pluto and Saturn, the conditions are ideal for dealing with what has become a one-sided personal relationship. However much you are moved or however heart-rending the appeals to your feelings, don’t give in to any form of emotional blackmail. Get real and get tough! Everybody knows that the latest call for your sympathy is deceitful and that someone has cried “wolf” far too often. As you’re not morally obliged to respond, make it plain that you have no time for a relationship that is long past its expiry date.

Leo (Jul 23 - Aug 22)

A brilliant Sun-Jupiter conjunction this week will prove very illuminating. It should provide insight into what is going on and help you to decide when and how to pounce. However, don’t make any moves that might mean your decisions are based on red-blooded lust. Leo has been endowed with a rapid-response instinct to go straight for the jugular, but using this skill to bring down your quarry depends on other factors. The likely barrier to success is whether you’re hungry enough. Once you know which way the wind is blowing, you can time your move and have your prey eating out of your hand.

Virgo (Aug 23 - Sept 22)

The children of Virgo are generally independent souls who, believing their ways are best, would prefer everyone to follow their example. The cosmic picture this week, however, favours co-operation and teamwork and the maxim that ‘many hands make light work’ holds good. Being fussy, you’re not the easiest person to work with and sometimes your high expectations are impossible to meet. No one is expecting you to lower standards, but there is scope for improving the work atmosphere and relaxing the pace. It’s a proven fact that happy people work faster, more efficiently and take pride in their work.

Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)

With the Sun entering your own sign, the more easy-going Libra, next Thursday, things are really looking up. Your present situation is likely to level out as cosmic energies are directed at maintaining the equilibrium. This doesn’t mean that things have come to a standstill — for although the momentum is slight — it’s less erratic. As long as you remain tolerant and keep to the middle of the road, you should find dealing with problems and people a breeze. There will be someone who needs your special attention just now and it’s in your interests to be accommodating.

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21)

A Mars-Saturn link this week suggests a disappointment in store for a colleague or someone close to you. Although your revelation may be the cause, it’s not a good idea to keep what you know a secret. Why put yourself in an untenable position just to get someone else off the hook? Errors have been committed, but the finger of blame shouldn’t point at you. Swearing an oath of confidentiality doesn’t mean you must cover up anyone’s willful wrongdoing and there’s no reason to feel guilty because you’ve let the cat out of the bag. People must take responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes.

Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)

A Sun-Jupiter conjunction midweek couldn’t be a better cosmic event for the Archer. Your kindly ruler, warmed by solar rays, promises a generous portion of the good things in life there for the taking. This doesn’t mean that a win at the races or a lottery is guaranteed, but things are looking really rosy in other ways. As long as your target is in sight and your aim is true, you can’t miss. Just know what you want and go for it. With a little dollop of charm, your winsome ways should make your appeal irresistible. You should use any promising opening to ask for a raise, a promotion — anything!

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 19)

As the Sun moves into Libra on Thursday, you should be able to put your life into a better balance and get your priorities sorted. Although partners are still liable to pile on the pressure, you’ll find the strength to ensure you can satisfy all demands. This does not mean that you are ‘up’ for anything and you must say ‘No’, and mean it, when anyone tries to take advantage. Those who have the sense will back off rather than risk pushing you too far. But it won’t come to that. You’re nearing a most positive period when you’re in complete control, can name your price and call the shots.
