Honour for best web designers

DUBAI - Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the IT Free Zone, attended the ceremony held on Wednesday for honouring the outstanding students of the General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum IT Project. During the ceremony, the best 20 web sites selected from 12,500 sites launched by the students were announced.

Also present at the ceremony were Dr Jamal Al Muhairi, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Education and Youth (MoEY), Khawla Al Mualla, Assistant Under-Secretary at MoEY for Educational Administration, Jamal bin Hewaireb, Director-General of the project, and members of the Educational Council and Parents Council.

Dr Al Muhairi said: "The project stands as a clear sign of the UAE's commitment to offer the best educational services in order to build a more knowledge-oriented generation. It also manifests the government's endeavours to equip its citizens with knowledge, culture, and skills."

Mr Bin Hewaireb extended a message of appreciation to all school administrations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and officials at the MoEY for devoting time and effort to the project.

"The project is the result of the vision of General Shaikh Mohammed to develop conventional methodologies by way of up-to-the-minute techniques and infinite material and immaterial support.

"The project yielded more than 40,000 boy and girl students within its first three years. Today, we see giant IT corporations, like IBM, endeavours to avail of the project and trace its footfalls in Europe," he added. At the end of the ceremony Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed honoured the outstanding performers and trainees in the project.
