Shaikh Hazza bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region’s Court, opened the 1,400-seat ice rink of Al Hili Fun City in Al Ain after completion of renovation work.

Dr Mattar Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Al Ain Municipality, said the 60x90 square metre ice rink was renovated at a total cost of Dh4 million and is on par with Olympic standards for hosting international events, including ice hockey championships and concerts.

The ice rink is Olympic-sized and was founded in 1987 — two years after the opening of the park. It is the first ice rink to open in the UAE and is the ideal venue for learning to skate and play ice hockey.
