High waves submerge road

FUJAIRAH — Unusually high waves yesterday overshot the barrier and flooded the adjoining park and submerged the main road of Suhaila in Kalbaa. Municipality vehicles hastened to the spot and sucked the accumulated water out.

Suhaila is a low-lying area and has been waterlogged several times before. The Sharm area was also a victim of the unusually high waves.

The majority of hotels and resorts in the northern shore have taken all the necessary measures to overcome the catastrophe, especially Le Meridien Al Akka that alerted its guests and warned them against swimming.

Heavy rains also lashed Khorfakkan yesterday.
