“The establishment of the Authority was aimed at promoting the deep-rooted identity of the UAE. Conserving the rich cultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates and passing it on to the coming generation will be one of the key responsibilities of the Authority," Mazrouei said.

He said: "Until we are able to make the cultural heritage and deep-rooted values and principles of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and our country as a whole as a source of pride and contributor to the social development and comprehensive evolution, we will continue our efforts to achieve our cultural objectives."

He said the conservation of the rich heritage of the UAE and passing it on to the next generations is a top priority and one of the main responsibilities.

"The rapid growth and urbanisation which are beyond imagination, along with the rapid steps of change, have greatly affected the cultural heritage of the whole world. At the same time, it influenced the cultural and natural identity of the different countries of the world," Mazrouei remarked.

The Culture and Heritage Authority, he said, plays a key role in integrated cultural awareness and promoting values and traditions in a way that serves the cultural and economic development of mankind in all areas of cultural heritage.

To this end, the Authority implements the strategy for the Conservation of the Cultural Heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and seeks to promote cultural dialogue, recognise the Arab as well as global heritage and coordinates with the institutions concerned with the protection of heritage and culture in different continents of the globe.

Mazrouei said the law of the Abu Dhabi Culture and Heritage Authority, which merged it with leading cultural institutions including the Cultural Foundation and the Antiquities and Tourism Authority, Al Ain, broadened the scope of the Authority to include, in addition to catering to heritage, supporting intellectual and art activities through appropriate strategic planning for the Authority's activity.
