As a true reflection of the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and in support of the Year of Zayed, Dubai Cares announced today its plans for raising funds and engaging the UAE community during Ramadan.
Through partnerships with the retail sector, Dubai Cares hopes to make it easier for shoppers and mall visitors to make a donation. Meanwhile, supporters and volunteers will get the chance to donate their time and effort by joining the "Back to School" edition of Volunteer Emirates taking place between May 26 and 29 and involving 2,000 volunteers in the assembly of 50,000 school kits to be distributed to children affected by Syrian crisis in Jordan.
As part of its longstanding partnership with Dubai Cares, Lulu Hypermarkets, the UAE-based retail major, will launch a Point of Sale (POS) campaign across its Hypermarkets in the UAE. Customers will be invited to make an Dh 1 donation or more towards Dubai Cares' Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in School programs in developing countries.
Dubai Cares has also partnered with Landmark Group once again this Ramadan through a Point of Sale (POS) campaign, which will run across Landmark Group's UAE retail stores and offer customers the opportunity to make an Dh5 donation in support of Dubai Cares' girls' education programs.
Moreover, Dubai Cares has partnered with The Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest shopping malls, through a month-long activation event taking place at the mall and titled, 9-HIJRI. This activation is set to celebrate the common values between the Holy Month of Ramadan and the UAE's founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Visitors and shoppers will be taken through 9 immersive zones spread across the mall, presenting an enriching experience with exhibits, interactive workshops and inspiring showcases of Islamic culture, religion and heritage. The seventh Zone, "Giving", embraces the value of generosity and giving and will be located near Fashion Catwalk. This Zone features a school-shaped installation, which will be illuminated over the month with light bulbs available for purchase as donations. All funds raised will go towards funding girls education programs in the Middle East region.
Dubai Cares' other retail and F&B partners during Ramadan include Amber, Ounass and Nisnass within Al Tayer Insignia, Darlie Global, Johnson & Johnson, Integral Shopper, Oasis, Shatha Essa, Subway and the Luxury Closet.
Speaking about this year's Ramadan partnerships and initiatives, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said: "We hope that members of the UAE community will take advantage of the various opportunities for donations we are making available to them. We are very proud of these partnerships with the retail and F&B sector as they truly reflect the authenticity and culture of the UAE community, as well as the deep roots of the virtue of charitable work throughout the country."
Commenting on this partnership with Dubai Cares, Yusuffali MA, Chairman & Managing Director at Lulu Group said: "We are pleased to join forces with Dubai Cares during the holy Month of Ramadan and renew our unwavering commitment to the organization's commendable philanthropic efforts. Our partnership with Dubai Cares, which spans over ten years, has allowed us to truly witness the transformative impact that Dubai Cares' educational programs have had on the lives of millions of children and young people around the world, and we are proud to be part of this noble mission.
Moreover, just last year, we pledged Dh 10 million in support of Dubai Cares' overarching mission to positively impact the lives of underprivileged children and young people through education."
Nisha Jagtiani, Group Director at Landmark Group said: 'Our greatest strength as a Group is the support given to us by the communities we serve. We are extremely happy to launch our in-store fundraising campaign towards Dubai Care's education programs. A small donation from our millions of loyal customers multiplied by the strength of our stores can make a positive impact on the future of thousands of underprivileged girls in developing countries."
Dubai Cares' month-long partnerships will also be complemented by a Dubai Cares' 'Back to School' edition of Volunteer Emirates, which will be taking place between 26-29 May at Al Boom Tourist Village and will witness more than 2,000 volunteers  come together to pack school kits that will be distributed to 50,000 children affected by Syrian crisis in Jordan ahead of the beginning of the new school year.
