Heavy to moderate rains lash the UAE

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi emirate has recorded heavy to moderate rainfall since Thursday to Friday evening while scattered showers lashed other emirates of the country.

Since Friday morning, the weather in the Capital remained cloudy and the temperature reduced to around 10 degrees Celsius during the day, which turned the weather very cold.

Most of the residents in the capital remained indoors due to cold, while some people ventured out to enjoy the rainy season of the year.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has registered heavy rainfall since Thursday 8pm till Friday 1.45pm include Guwaifat 25.4mm, Wateed 20.6mm, Al Arad 19.4mm, Razeen 13.8mm, Mazayed 12.2mm,

According to the NCMS, due to unsettled weather conditions, the precipitations across the country, has to continue for the coming weekend.

The NCMS has sounded alert for motorists and urged to drive slow as the rain showers would turn road slippery which might cause road accidents.

Fujairah airport witnessed 0.5mm rainfall since Thursday till Friday afternoon, Al Ain Airport 4.4mm, Abu Dhabi airport 0.8mm, Jabal Hafeet 3.8mm, Masafi 0.4mm, Hatta 0.2mm, Al Ain city 2.8mm.

The NCMS also forecast that random rain showers across the country particularly during the night would reduce the visibility level so asked motorists to drive carefully.

While other stations of the NCMS registered rainfall which include Um Al Ghafa 9mm, Al Fuaa 8.8mm, Al Khazna 8.6mm, Jabal Hafeet 7.8mm, while other stations in Abu Dhabi emirate had light rains.

The minimum temperature reached between nine to 14 degrees Celsius and maximum was between 19 to 23 degrees Celsius in the internal parts of the country.
