THERE have been instances of doctors getting miffed with us for having reported a medical error committed by one or more of them or for insisting that there was a need to verifiy the authenticity of the medical qualifications of some or the other doctor. That is understandable.
Today, we intend to lavish praise.
Praise for succeeding in making a heart beat again after that heart ceased to beat for almost an hour!
Doctors of the Zayed Military Hospital and Al Ain Hospital gave 25 electric shocks to a female patient who had an heart attack and her heart had stopped beating.
The female patient's heart was literally "shocked" to beat again. For her it was like being born again.
You can attribute the feat to divine intervention but the experience and skills of the attending doctors from both the hospitals also counted. The doctors never lost hope and that was what made all the difference.
