DUBAI - The UAE Health Council is seeking to standardise health policies nationwide and provide high-quality health services to all, according to Minister of Health Dr Hanif Hassan.
“The private sector is an important strategic partner for the public sector in providing healthcare services. The government takes care of investments in the health sector and partners with the private sector in providing affordable health services to all,” he said in remarks at the opening of the Council’s 11th meeting in Dubai on Friday.
The council discussed proposals pertaining to the new federal law on pharmacies, regulation of medical products and pharmaceutical facilities.
The council also called for the reshuffling of a committee on people with special needs and the setting up of a team to be chaired by Dr Juma’a Balhoul, deputy chairman of the council, to monitor challenges facing the private health sector.
Other issues discussed at the meeting include the referral of prisoners between hospitals and licensing of doctors.
