The study focuses on the important role played by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The study provides details about the exchange of visits by the officials of both countries which have contributed to further expanding the areas of cooperation and paving the way for closer understanding between the two friendly nations on different issues.

The study highlights the great role played by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in building these strong relations. It also gives an insight into a historic project initiated by Shaikh Zayed — an orphanage — in Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan.

The orphanage, which was opened in 1998, now accommodates and provides services to more than 5, 000 children.

Various bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding signed on different occasions by the two countries to promote cooperation in various fields have also been mentioned in the study.
